Sage Gateshead, January 2019

Wednesday 6 February 2019

Pictures and snapshots from our three days spent at Sage Gateshead in January 2019. The artists were able to play, collaborate and think about how to use the space, starting serious conversations about building an event for our return for four performances in April. Sage Gateshead is an incredible building and resource for the people of the North East, some of whom we were delighted to meet at our Focus Groups.

In one of the pictures you'll see our artists have been busy signing posters!

TAG Conference, Chester, December 2018

Wednesday 9 January 2019

Steven's paper presented initial findings from interviews with the artists and discussed the data by considering the role of the artists in the project as 'cultural intermediaries', questioning how they negotiated issues of autonomy and creativity in relation to audience feedback.

This international conference brought together a wide range of theoretical perspectives, debates and topics and provided a useful platform to gain new perspectives on our work.

Sheffield, September 2018

Friday 26 October 2018

Some pictures from our two days spent in Sheffield in late September as the artists prepared for the first work-in-progress performance at the Festival of the Mind. This was the first time the artists had come together since the July workshop in Oxford and everyone was keen to talk, play and share.

Oxford, July 2018

Thursday 25 October 2018

The first group meeting for the project took place in glorious sunny weather at St. John's College, Oxford in early July. Although several of the artists had played together before, this was the first team all the artists and project team had met. The time was spent getting to know each other, sharing ideas and starting to feel our way into the project. You can share what some of the artists thought about the workshop on our blog.

Fay's paper presented our proposed co-production influenced methodology, inviting and encouraging debate and input from fellow conference delegates to help shape and strengthen the project design in these early stages.

This international conference brought together music performers, academics, and teachers and offered an interdisciplinary perspective on ensemble performance, including theory and practice.
